Not too long, but interviewer asked some very good questions. I like it when they sort through the chaff and get to the point. Some takes I got out of it...
  • On Star Rankings - We have to have to NFL talent on our roster to compete for Championships. We'll go after 5 stars but they to be "Texas A&M 5 stars." Sometimes our rankings don't see eye to eye with everyone. Used Antonio Johnson as an example. 3 star but our 5 star, ended up all rookie team for Jags.
  • On Nic Scourton - Was his recruiter as DC. Said he was a rangy middle linebacker type in high school. Told him on his visit if he had told him in high school he would grow into a 280 lb. monster DE dominating in Big Ten, he would've recruited him harder. Very excited for second chance.
  • On Tommy Moffitt - Coach Moffitt called him first and told him how interested he was in the job. Said he had to take the call of a guy who had won 3 Championships under 3 different coaches. Said he's still really hungry and wants to win at a different program. Modern athletic workouts with old school approaches.
  • On Changing the "Little Things" Coming In - Guys showing up to meals, turning off their phones...now is the time to start instituting those types of things, so you can get their minds on just ball when it's time to do that...
  • On Coach Klein - Called him gritty as a coach, just like he played (think I'm gonna steal that...Coach Grit). Said their personalities fit really well together. Looked at how candidates called plays from a DC perspective, interviewed and then selected. I really got the impression he just wants to hand the reins over. Just tell me when we've scored.
Gig'em!!!
