Holy shit you are obsessed. You think Biden doesn’t think he’s an elitist? Hell he set his crack head son up with Cush jobs he didn’t have to do anything for but knock up strippers and leave crack pipes in rental cars. I think Trump has the most empathy for people like me than any president in my lifetime. Obama looked down his nose and lectured us for 4 years and has no clue how to relate to a person like me. Trump is the first politician I’ve ever knows who actually gives a shit about the little guy
remember Obama’s response to gas prices breaking the middle class? “I wish it hadn’t happened so fast but the prices need to go up” “you can build a new power plant (with reasonable power prices) but It’ll be cost prohibitive with my regulations” “ you can keep your doctor and your plan”
There is not one bit of empathy for a middle class person looking to raise a family and accomplish the American dream with him but you want to say Trump has no empathy is just extremely out of touch.
I can see it though if you are looking at things through the liberal prism. He’s probably not squeezing the middle class as much as the liberals want but to me Trump has given me hope that our government can still be a force for good

Jimmy carter was a president who was nothing but empathetic and look where that got us. The fact is that between the corrupt media, FBI and CIA targeting trump for impeachment over made up charges that were paid for by Hillary and the democrats this whole empathy thing is a pathetic attempt to hold some high moral ground. It’s bullshit. The democrats have used their power to corrupt our government and spy on innocent civilians like Carter Page in order to take down this president. Where is your empathy for someone illegally targeted by our government? Where is your empathy for tea party groups targeted by Louis Lerner and the IRS? Is it right next to the empathy Obama gave to the lady who asked if her mother would be given a chance to live under his healthcare plan when he said sometimes it’s better to take a pill? Where is the empathy in that? Is it empathy to give illegals access to social security and healthcare or theft from those paying into the system their entire lives?

Trump literally gave 3 of his kids and their spouses jobs in the government for which they have zero experience. Calling Biden out for it and not bothering to acknowledge that Trump also does it is most definitely the pot calling the kettle black.

What are we supposed to take away from that? Really. Three things I can see. First, the definition of empathy there was the ability to read people. In terms of Trump I’m not sure how well he reads people but given his success in multiple industries he probably does so fairly well. Relatedly, they authors don’t say what benefit the public at large gets from this form of empathy because that wasn’t the point of the study. Second, the same failure would be true for anyone of privilege and so our leaders across the board will suffer from this the longer they are in the elite class. Maybe an argument for term limits. Third, the study has major limitations.

Agree, csranfld, I’m unclear how the study equates being able to read a person’s emotions in their eyes to empathy. I would assume one could read another person’s emotions but still have no empathy for that person.

first off where is your proof that Biden is selling out to China? Oh wait you don’t have any. Iowa is a swing state for the first time since 1996 because Trump completely screwed over American farmers. Our #1 exporter was soy beans to China and thanks to a trade war that Trump started China will never buy soy beans from us again. He doesn’t care about average Americans.
