The Houston Lone Star Flight Museum was taken over today by local top high school prospects representing their schools for the VYPE photo-shoot. The event was a recruiting madhouse, and a lot of Texas A&M football recruiting news came out of the event. (Below is a synopsis. Be sure and check back this week for more details on each player and what my sources are saying as I check in with them.)
Atascocita five-star offensive tackle Kenyon Green is still working on the release of his “top five” schools, and the Aggies still are in a favorable position. Again I can’t emphasize enough how important and influential his family is (mom. Dad, little sister and grandparents.)
Texas A&M, Alabama and Texas are in position to be the final three for North Forest offensive tackle Javonne Shepherd. Alabama was his most recent visit. Initially a summer commitment was what Shepherd was shooting for, but it looks like a decision won’t happen until more visits are taken. Shepherd and Kenyon Green talk it over with one another (schools, recruiting, coaches…all of it); the two have become very close. Shepherd even listed Henry Green as one of his mentors and someone he seeks advice from when it comes to the process,
North Forest had two prospects representing today at the VYPE shoot; Javonne Shepherd and 2020 teammate Demond Demas. The four-star (and I would expect a soon to become five-star) wide receiver has 50 plus offers, and the Aggies remain top contenders. Demas visited Alabama recently with Shepherd, and was equally impressed.
*It will be fun to watch the recruitment of these three play out as they are all connected. Could all three end up at the same place? … Green and Shepherd want to play together, and Demas wants to play with Shepherd.
I talked in depth with the above three (Green, Shepherd and Demas) as well as with Madison 2019 four-star cornerback Bobby Wolfe. He opened up with AY about his recruitment, family, lifestyle and the motivation behind it all. This will be a fun one to watch as well considering his friendship and connection Richmond Bush 2019 four-star cornerback Eric Young. Both have officially visited the Aggies, and have A&M among the top (possibly no.1) Wolfe is hoping to make a decision sometime near the beginning of July.
This list of A&M targets at the photoshoot continues with:
- Houston Episcopal 2021 Offensive tackle Donovan Jackson (Coach Turner has developed a good relationship)
- Richmond Foster OL Reuben Fatheree aka “Deuce” Fatheree (“ A&M gave early good impression)
- Manvel 2019 tackle/guard Layden Robinson (Aggies have been looking at him closely)
- North Shore 2021 wide receiver Shadrach Banks (Aggies are one of his early offers)
- College Park 2020 offensive guard and Texas A&M commit Josh Bankhead (has always been a huge fan of A&M. “…Playing for them is like a dream come true...”)
- Klein Collins 2019 running back Isaiah Spiller (took unofficial visit to A&M at the end of March; decommitted from OU beginning of April; Both A&M and OU remain in the picture)
