Root for Oklahoma State tomorrow

It's Bedlam. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State will face off and the Cowboys are significant favorites. More importantly, you want them to smoke the Sooners because A&M has two commits visiting. Katy Paetow's duo of DE DJ Hicks and LB Daymion Sanford are going to be in Norman for the game. Hicks has been a serious target for OU for a long time and that has to be a point of concern; Sanford seems like he's still pretty solid, but you don't like seeing a commit go anywhere (even though it happens way too often). So just as TCU's physical battering of Texas may have given Anthony Hill pause, having Oklahoma State put the pedal down would be optimal.

Here are your leaders for the 2023 class

A couple of years ago, nobody wanted to mess with Kenyon Green and DeMarvin Leal. This year, nobody wants to mess with TJ Shanahan and Colton Thomasson. The massive offensive linemen, along with 4-star corner Bravion Rogers, have become the voices behind the scenes working to keep the class together. So, while I'm concerned about Hicks (and maybe Chase Bisontis, because he's big on Addazio), that's about it.
Which I know is small consolation.

Achane tomorrow? Don't count on it

RB Devon Achane is very likely to be held out again tomorrow because...well, it's UMass and the weather's going to be garbage (high of maybe 47, rain all day). It may cost him a shot at 1,000 yards, but it's still a prudent decision.

Only 9 seniors being honored tomorrow -- but one is big
Here are the nine scholarship seniors who will be honored tomorrow:
LBs Chris Russell and Andre White;
RB Earnest Crownover;
TE Max Wright;
DB Demani Richardson;
CB Myles Jones;
WR Jalen Preston
CB Brian George
and WR Ainias Smith.
This doesn't mean for sure that Smith is a goner, but it's a pretty good (or bad) indication of which way he's leaning at this point. That would be, to put it mildly, a disappointment, but he's going to gamble that 19.5 YPC before he got hurt and a good showing this spring will be enough to help him draft-wise.

By the way, it finally came out this week that Brian George got hurt in the Mississippi State game and that ended his season. So that's ANOTHER season lost to injury.

On the other hand...

WR Chase Lane, P Nik Constantinou and PK Caden Davis are all coming back for another year.

Update on future scheduling

The SEC is almost certainly going to a division-less format. The question is whether or not it's an 8 game or a 9 game schedule. Jimbo kind of let it slip this week that A&M is on board with a 9 game format and expects for it to happen. That means 3 permanent rivals and 6 rotating ones, so you'll see a lot of teams a lot of faster than you would otherwise.

Indefinite sure looks like the season

The four suspended players remain sidelined this weekend and it's looking unlikely that they play next week either. That almost surely means curtains for mutli-suspended Chris Marshall and Denver Harris, unless they've made serious amends behind the scenes. As for Anthony Lucas and PJ Williams, their future is less certain.
