What's A&M's next move at QB?

When Eli Holstein de-committed earlier this afternoon, he didn't seem to leave much of a window open for A&M to get back into the mix. It seems like Alabama, Florida, Oregon and LSU now have his attention, and he may not have liked the idea of sitting behind Conner Weigman at A&M (of course, he'd have to sit behind someone at Alabama, too).
A&M should be a fairly popular destination for 2023 recruits, but they've only got six offers out. Two of them are committed, and a third is supposed to be the $8 million man (and going to Tennessee). That leaves a pair of 3-stars, Marcel Reed of Nashville and Marquis Roby of Las Vegas. Reed really likes Georgia, and Roby seems to be like a Zach Calzada type -- A&M stands out among a bunch of relatively middling offers. The best he has at the moment, besides A&M, is Maryland.
This is not a good year for quarterbacks in Texas. Austin Novosad of Dripping Springs is committed to Baylor, but he may be interested if A&M comes calling. Bo Edmundsun of Lake Travis is committed to Michigan State, but likewise, he could have an interest if A&M gets in touch. Jackson Arnold of Denton Ryan is the state's best for 2023, but he's committed to OU.
However this goes, the Aggies are going to have to start essentially from scratch and work their way in with someone to replace Holstein. It won't be easy, so it would be a shock if anything happens on this front before late summer at the earliest.

Aggies making a move for a pair of elite corners
Alabaster, Ala.'s Tony Mitchell and Arlington Martin's Javien Toviano are two of the best corners in the 2023 class. They have a ton of programs after them, but A&M has made significant inroads of late with both of them.
Mitchell was supposed to be looking seriously at Georgia and Alabama, but it seemed like he started to pick up interest in A&M last month. That was verified over the past week, when he's publicly shown a lot of love for the Aggies.
Toviano was supposed to be going to Texas (isn't eveyone, all the time?) but the Aggies have made a real move for him lately. It's probably going to be a two-horse race between the in-state schools. The Aggies had a great haul at corner last year, but they could take three or four more this time around because they're still top-heavy with Myles Jones and Brian George being seniors and Jaylon Jones a junior.

Three Aggies who may be worth watching this spring

There are quite a few players on the roster who could start at other programs, but are stuck in the numbers game at A&M. But every year, there's a few players who make a move and find themselves on the field when it wasn't expected. So here are three that have gotten solid reviews to date, even if they aren't thought about a lot.
The first is defensive back Josh Moten. Moten was off to a great start last year before tearing his ACL in an open practice in the spring. Moten is smaller than most Aggie corners, but is a strong defender. With a potential opening at nickel, Moten could make a move there.
Another is wideout Devin Price. Price drew rave reviews from coach Jimbo Fisher for his performance in the offseason program, and he's got good size at 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds. A&M certainly has a need for wideouts this spring, with Demond Demas gone and Caleb Chapman out. Price will get a lot of playing time and he could make things really interesting.
The third, and probably least discussed, is guard Josh Bankhead. Bankhead is a second teamer now, playing at left guard at the moment. The former powerlifter is extremely strong and an asset in the running game. If he gets a little quicker, he could be the guy A&M turns to in case of an injury to Blake Trainor or Layden Robinson

Spiller's suitors becoming clear?

There's quite a market for running back Isaiah Spiller, who teams feel will be around later in the second and into the third round because backs are so undervalued. Three teams have been pretty public with their interest: Tampa, Atlanta and Miami. The Bucs are a bit interesting because they have a solid back rotation, but the Falcons and Dolphins have clear needs. But so does another team, who's closer to making a run: the Buffalo Bills. The Bills don't really have a quality RB1 and just lost out on adding JD McKissic as their third down back when he decided to go back to Washington at the last minute. The Bills are picking in an area where I think Spiller makes a ton of sense, so watch Von's new team.
