New York went into last night's game against the White Sox (29-90) with a 70-49 record, tied with the Orioles for the best in baseball.
The White Sox beat them 12-2. The last time that the team with the best record lost by 10 or more runs to the team with the worst record in July or later was in 1934 (and, coincidentally, the White Sox were the worst team then too). That's the only other time it's happened in a century.

Congrats on this great achievement, Yanks. May you do it again today.
