In this mess of portal times and NIL with the various state laws, what did they do others different from what likely others have done???
According to Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger, the Seminoles are expected to be hit with "significant penalties" after alleged NIL recruiting violations.
Dellenger says that the penalties are expected to be levied against the program, one of its NIL collectives, a booster and an assistant coach.
Offensive coordinator Alex Atkins is the assistant coach in question, and he is alleged to have committed two Level II violations - impermissible recruiting activity and facilitating impermissible contact with an NIL booster.
Atkins is expected to receive a three-game suspension at the beginning of the 2024 season, along with a show-cause in the event he gets a job with another school, though he is expected to remain with FSU.
Other penalties will include a two-year probation, a reduction in scholarships and official visits, and restrictions on contact with the NIL collective and the booster named in Atkins' violation.
The NIL-related sanctions and penalties are the first of their kind for the NCAA, and the rules surrounding NIL seem to be subject to change on a year-by-year basis.
For now, Florida State was found to be in violation of the currently established rules, and it appears that they will be punished accordingly.
