DENVER (CBS4) - Performer Willie Nelson is reportedly launching his own brand of weed, according to the brand's spokesperson.
Michael Bowman told The Daily Beast that the 81-year-old marijuana advocate is working on his brand, "Willie's Reserve," and that it will even include branded bongs and stores in states where the drug is legal.
"Well, you know, Willie has spent a lifetime in support of cannabis, both the industrial hemp side and the marijuana side. He wants it to be something that's reflective of his passion. Ultimately, it's his. But it was developed by his family, and their focus on environmental and social issues, and in particular this crazy war on drugs, and trying to be a bright light amongst this trail as we're trying to extract ourselves from the goo of prohibition," Bowman tells Daily Beast.
Bowman says the brand will include marijuana grown under Nelson's oversight, as well as products from growers who meet the brand's standards. Bowman emphasized that Nelson will place importance on growers who keep environmental and social justice issues as priorities.
