This is pretty interesting. There was a letter to the editor that was published prior to the disaster stating that this person believed that the EPA was trying to turn Silverton and the mines into a Superfund site. Pretty interesting read. I would copy the text, but the letter was published in print only. It's amazing what the government can get away with. If any business had done this by accident, there would already be investigations and people brought up on charges. If the government does it, well, it's because they meant to.
