OK, first this is not meant to defend or defame Jake Spavital. It has been well documented on every A&M fansite out there, individual feeling about his competence or lack there of. The purpose of this weeks pictures is to give an elementary explanation and some looks at some foundation air raid pass routes. Look at some wrinkles that were thrown into last weeks play calling. As well as answer a posters question from last night asking about running a 5-2 front.

First, the Bear Front otherwise known as the 46 defense or Eagle/Double Eagle. Last night someone started a thread, sorry don't remember the posters handle, asking why we don't go to a 5-2 to help with run support. Last week, we actually went to that front. In fact, they ran it a lot when Richard Moore was in the game and I thought it was a really smart move on Chiefs behalf. That front basically challenges an offense to throw the ball, so we stick Moore in there and said "go full blast and get em" which he did. Great move. Although this shot does not have Moore in the personnel, it is the Bear Front "no question about it" in my best John Chavis voice!

Next, a new wrinkle on the second pass play of the game. When I previewed the bama game, I made a post of Ole Miss trying to run a WR screen. Bama blew it up, but I said I would like to see the X run a double move off the same play. Well it wasn't exactly like I had it drawn up in my mind, but somebody saw the same thing I did in the film and we ran this play the second passing play of the game.

I only took one pic of this play, but Reynolds runs off the DB, there is a NB that released RSJ who runs under Reynolds and the DB that was covering Kirk is coming down hill hard and trying to get over the top of 11 so that RSJ can't seal the edge. There is another LB/S coming hard to the inside. Reynolds picks the DB trying to get to the outside. Every defender is sure the ball is going to Kirk. RSJ turns up and runs a fade. KA throws the ball to RSJ and it gets into him and he can't hold onto the ball. It was a really good concept however I thought.
