A great Ag and high school coaching legend, Coach Don Godwin, passed away last Friday. He was 81 years old. He coached at Rogers High School for about 30 years, and had 270 career wins. He's in the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame (or whatever they call it).
I'm pretty sure some of the guys on here knew of him and perhaps played on teams against him. He turned the Rogers High School football program from a losing program to an almost every year playoff team.
I attended the visitation Monday night in Temple, and there was a huge crowd of former players and coaches there - like a Rogers Eagle reunion.
He will be missed; he was a great influence in many lives, including encouraging kids to attend A&M.
See correct link in my post later in this thread.
(edit: He also spent some time in the Marine Corps, so his Aggie class year was later than '56.)
