I don't understand why people keep saying it is going to take at least a year for Chavis to get this Defense the way he wants it to. We are 2-3 deep on the DLine. The DLine is loaded with upperclassmen. We have 2 stud pass rushing ends (and Qualen Cunningham is very good too). Linebackers will be good (as long as they stay healthy). Our 2 Safeties are going to be really good. We have 2 of the CBs positions locked up (Harris and Noel Ellis as nickel). We have to find the other CB for this Defense (which I hope Harvey nails it down).

So....why can't we expect this Defense to be a Top 50 Defense with Chavis' Defensive scheme in Year 1?

Why would he need another year to get the Defense to be good when we have the talent he needs to make this Defense good in Year 1?
