I may be over simplifying but here me out.
Lets say you start the drive at your own 20 with a 4 WR set. A couple runs and short passes later and your at midfield. On every single play of the drive, you single out a different DB and run a go route with the receiver, essentially gassing that DB. Then pick another DB and gas him with a fresh receiver. Then when the matchup is right and you have a gassed DB trying to cover Kirk or Reynolds on the outside you hit them over the top.
I'm sure this is more of the game within the game. We all think the runs and short passes are trying to score, and sometimes they do, but in reality, it's about waring out the secondary and going over the top for the kill shot. My question, is how does Kirby Smart handle all the receiving weapons we have? And is that concept above the main problem Saban has with this offense?
