Was at the ranch having the walk in cooler checked out. Decided to pull cards from the many cameras we have out. A lot of pictures to go through-have checked 4 cards and the surprise is we have more double drop- tine bucks than ever before. The most we have ever had was three. A friend of mine, who is a deer breeder gave us a 2.5 year old buck we named triple drop and at 4.5 years of age we changed his name to six drop . This is the buck that " we hoped " would put the drop-tine gene into our herd. His first good looking son was born when he was triple drop. When his first son was 3.5 years of age he dropped double drop tines. What a deer-we were on our way! In September of that year we found the young deer dead at our back tank. When I cut the belly open there was no doubt the deer had died from EHD! Six drop provided the ranch with great genes until he died of natural causes last year. He is mounted next to his son in one of our cabins. Both of them look great to- gather. Fast forward- after 4 camera cards I have seen 8 double drops or better that are now alive on the ranch. Now do not get upset with me for not putting up photos of these deer. I will let my Aggie friends do this for me. Groesbeck Aggie I left your E-mail address at the ranch. Call me on my cell phone as soon as you can-979-574-7521. My son told me today he wants to go back to the ranch on Thursday.
