Folks don't know what "HOT" is unless you attended one of those early year Texxas Jam Concerts!
On July 1st, back in 1978, 100,000 people attended the first Texxas Jam at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.
Featuring performances by: Ted Nugent, Aerosmith, Frank Marino & Mahogany, Rush, Heart, Journey, Head East, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Eddie Money, Van Halen, and Walter Egan.
Cheech & Chong even did comedy skits in between each band s performance.
Tickets were only $13 each.
It was reportedly one of the hottest days of the decade (104 degrees with temperatures reaching 120 on the field due to the black tarp covering the field to protect the grass).
The stage crew repeatedly sprayed the audience down with fire hoses.
