Brandon won his repechage round with a time of 1:44.21 to move into the semifinal of the 800 meters. Brandon did not originally get past the quarterfinal but under new Olympic rules, there is an extra round (repechage) for non qualifiers and if they win that heat, they get into the semifinal round.
