Was curious with two guys shooting -14 and finishing second how many times anybody has gone that low and lost.
The answer is in 79 masters tournaments, -14 would have won 73 of them. The exceptions:
Nicklaus in 1965 -17
Floyd in 76 - 17
Woods in 97 -18
Woods in 01 - 16
Michelson in 10 - 16
Yesterday.
Of those Nicklaus won by 9 strokes, Floyed by 8, Tiger by 12 and 2, Michelson by 3 and Spieth by 4.
-14 would have resulted in playoffs in 3 other years.
Yet, despite all of that, it was pretty boring to watch given nobody got close to Spieth the entire last 3 days.
