12/29 **EVENING** UPDATE
Kenneth's doctor has decided to change the location of the surgery to the Heart Hospital because of the complexity of the surgery. This way they'll have more cardiothoracic surgeons on hand just IN CASE of problems that may arise. Plus, Misty can stay overnight with Kenneth from day one in ICU -- unlike Seton Hospital's visitor policy (she would've had to wait until he was out of ICU).
12/29 UPDATE AND CONTINUED DONATION HELP
Ok, AggieYell friends/family -- I hate having to ask this of you guys but all streams of revenue are completely exhausted. I would like to ask if ANY OF YOU can spare anything right now to donate to Kenneth's building medical expenses among other daily/weekly/monthly bills. More info is below.
Now, it is time for Kenneth's open-heart surgery. It's 4:52am on Thursday morning right now and I can't sleep. I've been wide awake for hours. Kenneth's 'Septal Myectomy' (along with some cleaning of the arteries and adding animal tissue to repair some valves) procedure is scheduled for 8:00am this morning with an arrival time of 7:00am. He had his pre-op with the cardiothoracic surgeon yesterday, Wednesday 12/28. He had to go through the instructions of the procedure and fasting, meeting with the anesthesiologist, bathing in a special bath cream, blood and urine lab work, an EKG, a stress test, etc. The surgeons said he won't be awake the first day until about 15-20 hours after the surgery. They will keep him sedated until he is stable. He'll be in ICU for 1.5-2.5 days then moved to a regular patient room for 5-7 more days. If everything goes well, then he'll get to go home after that. If they need to be on the cautious side for whatever reason, Kenneth's hospital stay could be 3 weeks or more. Obviously, we'll be praying for the first outcome.
Also, Misty wants to know if it would be ok with those of you who sent notes and/or letters to give them a little inspiration for her to write you back to say how thankful they are and maybe send a pic of the family. If not, she will send everything to me so I can post it on AggieYell for all to see. On that same note, she also wanted me to ask if she could get the names and addresses of those of you who donated on the GoFundMe webpage. She doesn't care how much your donation was (or will be) she is just overwhelmed with joy and faith that all she wants to do is to write a small 'thank you' to everyone. That, of course, is to each of your own discretion.
If you can help in any way, please see below:
1) You can send donations to my physical address in care of Kenneth and Misty Meyer.
Ronnie E Howell
C/O Kenneth and Misty Meyer
411 N. Rusk St.
Overton, Tx 75684
2) You can donate by way of PayPal: PayPal email is ronnie.howell@gmail.com
3) You can choose to use GoFundMe (which takes roughly 8% of the donation)
4) If you don't have money or are iffy about anything, please help in another way. You can choose how you want to help. A couple of Ags have talked about grocery shopping. Maybe if you have anything of value that you don't want or need anymore that Misty can sell. She also has a house cleaning business that she will basically use as a raffle or "money earned."
5) Anything you guys can think of that could help in any way. Also, anything sent to me for them is strictly private. I DO NOT open any mail or other such items that are meant for them.
Thanks again Ags,
Ronnie E Howell

12/13 UPDATE
So, Kenneth is having a Septal Myectomy procedure performed soon. I don't know what the exact date of the surgery is at this time. He has his pre-op visit with his cardiothoracic surgeon on Monday 12/19. Misty is absolutely scared to no end and is completely beside herself. Honestly, I'm not sure who is more scared of the procedure -- Misty or myself. Kenneth is a man's-man so he acts as though it doesn't faze him (deep down I know it does). Anyway, since I'm shaking like chili powder to chili -- below is Misty's latest update.
On another note, let me know if you want to confirm that I've received your donation and /or note through the mail or by PayPal.

Went to the cardiologist specialist at Austin Heart today to Check the hematoma. It's still there, but it's absorbing nicely. We will see Dr. Yang on Monday 12/19 at the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons for his pre-op for his upcoming open heart surgery. He's still sleeping all the time and feeling bad, but he's trying to keep going with daily activities and trying not to overexert himself. And of course I stay on him when he tries to do too much or looks like he's hurting. I'll update when we know more information! ❤️
Thanks did the love and support when we need it the absolute most!

BAD UPDATE 12/8
Kenneth went to see the HTCM SPECIALIST today and he said we are out of options. Because Kenneth is so young they really can't just keep him on the medications because eventually they just won't work anymore. The specialist is now scheduling Kenneth for another surgery, but this time it'll be the "big" one. They are going to completely open him up and shave his heart and hollow out all of his clogged arteries. He will be in the hospital for a while after this one, so we have to make plans for the kids and for my Housekeeping clients so I can stay there with him at all times. (Hopefully I will get to stay) we are waiting for the scheduler to call and tell us when and where to be so we can get this done and hopefully he will feel better. Some how, some way I will find a way. Please keep praying for my sweet guy!
Much love,
MM ❤️
HEART SURGEY FOR OUR DADDY
I know it is close to Christmas and we all get a little stressed around this time of year, but my "family" desperately needs us all. I don't know what to do other than to look to my Aggie family.
My "brother" Kenneth has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. He is only 39 years old. He and his wife Misty are a couple of my best friends. They have 6 children. I consider them family. They are also Aggie fans (more on that later). A few days ago he underwent a procedure to implant a pacemaker to try to restart his heart when it stops beating while awaiting a heart transplant. He's on the transplant list. They're basically playing the waiting game now.
For those of you unfamiliar with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, or HCM, it is basically a thickening and enlargement of the heart muscle which at 'stage 4' can cause sudden cardiac death. It is mainly hereditary but can also be a byproduct of the life you live. Just like cancer -- stage 4 is the last, and worst, stage of the disease.
Here is more info on HCM
As a result of this sudden development, their family has been put in a position of extreme financial hardship. The copays and deductibles for the multiple doctor visits, specialists, tests, medications and the surgical procedure to implant the pacemaker have already gone into the thousands of dollars. The future medical costs and the hopefully soon-to-come transplant will cost them tens of thousands. Add in the piling up of rent, utility bills, car notes, etc., and the fact that they have 6 children to feed (ages 15, 14, 6, 5, 5 & 3) just amplifies the financial stress they are under.
I've seen this board make many miracles happen before including helping this very family once before when their now 3 year old son was born prematurely and was hospitalized for about 2 months because his little lungs were under-developed. He is now a very healthy little boy who adores his father. Kenneth has always been an Aggie, but ever since that time, our Aggie family has grown -- turning a few longhorns into Aggie fans!
So, I ask on behalf of the Meyer family -- MY FAMILY -- for anything you can donate, whether it be monetary or just items you don't want or need anymore that they can sale to raise money for all of the current and future medical costs and other bills incurred. If you can't donate money... please, at least, keep them in your prayers. Also, they live in Hutto and Kenneth's wife Misty is willing to come clean your home (and when I say clean, I really mean sparkling clean) to earn money. I also ask you to spread this message to anyone, anywhere you possibly can.
Kenneth's 'GoFundMe' page is linked below. Misty tries to give updates everyday. Again, on behalf of the Meyer family and myself, THANK YOU for any and all you can do to help!!! Have a very safe and Merry Christmas!
