Was this discussed or did I completely miss it? He was all-world, IIRC, at Duncanville and looked like a 3rd-year NFL veteran as a recruit. I seem to recall us griping that we missed out on him when he signed with Saban and the Tide. But played sparingly at Bama and then transferred this past winter to t.u. but was overweight and then after spring practice he transferred to UTSA?
I'm not saying he can't get his career on track in San Antonio but it seems to me a pretty big come-down for a player as highly touted as he was as a recruit.
So what happened? Peaked in HS?? Didn't put in the work in college? Just not as good at football once everybody was on his physical level? Anyway, just goes to show, at least IMHO, how much more important it is these days to be successful in the portal vs. HS recruits.
