Ags, "it's the same until it's different". This has been my motto this season and my way of dealing with my own BAS. I want to thank a whole host of sports therapists who have gotten me through the years since I first contracted BAS in Boulder, CO on September 23, 1995 and subsequently reinforced and fully took hold on October 7th, 1995. Since then, BAS and I have been through a lot... But this year, I've been managing my BAS with the mantra of "it's the same until it's different".

This season has been exactly like many seasons in the past, especially ones where there has been a coaching change and BAS takes a back seat for a bit, only to get clobbered in the back of the head by it in a meaningful game, which brings me to where were last week. The LSU game started exactly like many others have in the past where we had a massive atmosphere, a game at home with a lot on the line, and we start out looking like shit. During the first half of the game, I jokingly turned away from watching the game to say "They can't hurt me if I don't look". The second half is where I could start so say that I saw something different. In previous years, we would just continue doing the same thing over and over, fulfilling the true definition of insanity. This year, we did something different. We made excellent adjustments at the half on defense (something we saw routinely out of Elko as our DC. This time we made a huge adjustment to our offense, and we all know the results.

But this week, it's still "the same until it's different". There have been similar games in the past where we won, but the following week we shit the bed against an inferior opponent or squeaked out a W (but it didn't feel good). So, this week, here's the different that I want to see if things are truly different. We can't "just win" this game, or to me it's the same stuff. We need to be dominant on both sides of the ball. Can we win by only 7 and still have that dominant performance? Hell yeah! That means we kicked their asses for 3 quarters that we let them get close against our 3's and 4's on defense... But from what I've seen with this defense, those guys should be able to hold it down.

The different this time is going to come from the offense exerting pressure on a really good defense. Even if we're getting some field goals and a TD here and there, but holding their offense scoreless, we're good. We just need to see the offense continue to bludgeon their defense. We want them to hurt and not want to face our OL. I want to see some WRs get some blocks that make DBs hurt (without getting called for a fvcking targeting).

If we do that this week, and execute similarly against Auburn... Yeah, it's truly different. Then I want to take that different and make that burnt orange team hurt like they've never hurt before. I need different because I want to cure my BAS once and for good. Sure, it may come back from time to time like shingles, but this different I'm looking for should damn near be a cure. BTHOSC Ags!
