I'd say since the late 90's rap music took over as the music selection of most young people and by the mid 2000's was the mainstream music source. Rock's time ended with the grunge bands of the 90's. Since then it's been all goo goo dolls, blink 182 and other shitty rock bands.

Is raps reign coming to an end? I believe so. I'm not saying it will die. There will still be popularity with it and certain types of areas like the Houston rap scene will still be going on. But is it going to be at the top?

As for me I really don't even listen to rap anymore. Outside of passing by a song on the radio station from time to time I listen to. I never stream it on spotify where I control music for what mood I'm in.
