Impact of Recruiting Class Rankings on Winning?

It appears to me that most of A&M's SEC West competitors consistently have recruiting classes that are ranked in the top ten. Only Arkansas and Mississippi State consistently have classes that rank outside the top ten and below A&M. Does anyone know the correlation between SEC schools that have top ten and five recruiting classes and their win-loss records? It seems to me that those schools consistently have highly ranked recruiting classes and as a result have a much better win record than A&M. The only exception to this trend is 2011 when A&M was 11 and 2 but that was a team that was primarily staffed with Sherman recruits. My personal opinion is that while Sumlin has improved recruiting he is not recruiting at a level high enough to overtake Alabama, LSU, Mississippi and Auburn. Those teams consistently have highly ranked classes with a large number of 4 and 5 stars relative to their 3 star recruits. Are we being lulled by Sumlin recruiting better than previous A&M coaches and unknowingly settling for being consistently in the second tier of the SEC West because he is not overtaking the top teams in the SEC West with recruiting classes?
