So I had someone ask me a question that I’ll be darned if I know or not. This person runs a counseling practice and no longer accepts insurance. But they were told the following and are wondering if this is true. Any of you attorneys or know it alls have any input here? Read below:
Texas requires insurance companies to provide out of network coverage, although it does not say what percentage must be covered. Ask your insurance company about out of network benefits. If they say you do not have out of network benefits, kindly inform them that Texas laws require insurance companies to provide out of network coverage. We suggest that you request a written statement from your insurance company regarding what they will pay.
