Man! I am so proud right now that I could BUST! Just found out that my oldest granddaughter, age 14, HAS MADE THE U. S. NATIONAL TEAM (Under 19) in Floorball!!! Floorball is a type of Hockey, except they play it on a gym floor rather than on a field of ice.)
My youngest Grandson has been a member for FOUR years!!! He (and his now-21-year-old brother have both played on the team since they moved here from Sweden. (Over there, they played "real" hockey for the Swedish Jr. Team.) Both, obviously, since they were on the National team, excelled at the sport. When they came to the USA, and found very few people played Hockey - mainly due to lack of an arena - the only alternative was FLOORBALL!!!
But my sweet, lovable, little granddaughter!!! WOW!!! Of course, for three years now (since age 11) she has played with grown-ups!!! She tells me, "Grampaw, I play defense, and I love to see one of the older men to come charging toward me! When all they see as young girl in their way, they think they will have an easy time of it. But I know what to do!!! And, before they can understand what happened, I got the puck and heading the other way!!! (Giggle proudly at the end!!!)
You guys have as good a day as I am having!!!
(The last two years, they have played the World Cup in Sweden, I don't know where it is played this year. But you can guarantee I'll be there!!!)
