Okay, now I've had some brain fuel in me, I'm ready to roll with all these questions on the offense. Dangit, I should've saved some for the Mailbag so I could really annoy Mark. Oh well...
1. Who will replace Stewart at the X receiver? My first guess would be Micah Tease. Speed guy, downfield threat, seems like a fit to take over. I also think Allen from La Tech might be a player here because Harvey seems more of a route runner who will backup Moose. Heck, we could still be in the market and bring in someone totally different. Just fun thinking about, months and months out.
2. How will the O Line shuffle come out? This one is really difficult because of how a lot of us here feel how poorly coached these kids were by the last staff. That said, players still play. So, how much was it the staff versus the players? Hard to quantify so we'll start them from scratch. Let's give the incumbent starters the benefit of the doubt, plus Deuce, who was hurt and should be back. That would give us a line of LT - Zuhn, LG - Dewberry, C- Foster, RG - ????, RT - Deuce. Here's my question. Who plugs in? Nabou played well enough, in my view, to be a starter. If he could handle RG, even if he is your backup center, do we do that? With his experience, possibly. Bisontis may have been out position at tackle, do we try him there? Again, game experience matters. What about Shanahan? Redshirted. Awesome potential. Natural position is guard. Easy answer, huh?!
3. Are we really going to get back to using the TEs? Methinks, yes. Two big reasons. First, Coach Klein. He has a history, a good history of utilizing his TEs. He certainly hasn't had the talent he has with us, especially with Green coming back. I just don't see our TEs being an afterthought next year. It will be more like what we saw with Petrino when Jimbo was out of the way. Secondly, throwing to TEs is back in vogue. TEs who create big mismatches are just problems most college DCs haven't caught up with yet. See Bowers, Brock - Georgia.
Gig'em!!!
