Folks like @KeithDB believe that if Trump is re-elected, he will turn into a dictator, subvert the constitution, etc.

These same folks are also pushing Red flag laws, gun regulations, etc that would stop/limit law abiding citizens from owning guns.

I find this thought process extremely interesting.

If they truly believed that Trump would overthrow the government, why would they be advocating for gun control when that would be their only protection against an authoritarian rulers they think Trump would be?

We know most authoritarian rulers will confiscate guns from everyone as one of their first orders of business to secure their government.

We also know these rulers will round up the political dissidents and murder them.

A well armed citizenry would potentially be able to fight back against this tyranny. Even against F16s, tanks, etc. - it would take the whole military to be subverted which is far more difficult.

I guess I have to know how these two thought processes work in your mind - Trump is a threat to our democracy with guns are a threat to our democracy and should be confiscated/regulated/etc

Can someone (@KeithDB , @Aggie98nHouston , @bioaggie or others who advocate for stricter gun control laws) help me understand how you reconcile these beliefs?

It goes back to this clip from David Hogg getting destroyed by a Chinese immigrant.....
