We've heard that A&M running back Rueben Owens has practiced all week and, even though he's listed as questionable, he is expected (right now) to play tomorrow against Texas. The other questionable cases -- CB Will Lee and nickel Jaydon Hill -- are also expected to go. OL Chase Bisnotis was added to the injury list last night, but he also looks like he'll play, though I expect we'll also see TJ Shanahan and Kam Dewberry as well. Texas is not the team you want to have a lack of lower body strength against. They've got some really big dudes on the interior of their defensive line.
Hart committed to A&M sight unseen
When Bryce Underwood made his much publicized flip from LSU to Michigan, teams interested in adding a quarterback for 2025 started contacting Coca (Fla.) 4-star QB Brady Hart. Hart was a 2026 commit, but was able to graduate at the mid-term THIS year. So the Aggies got in touch, with coach Mike Elko and OC Collin Klein leading the way. Hart hit it off with both, but Klein especially, and was willing to to commit to the Aggies without even having visited College Station. But he'll be in town tomorrow, adding to what's already a potent visitors list.
On the other side of the coin...
Texas QB Quinn Ewers will play tomorrow, but the ankle injury he sustained in last week's game with Kentucky has reportedly not healed as quickly as initially hoped. He doesn't move much anyway, but if it's not 100%, it could also affect his throwing.
So does that help A&M? Of course it does.
The Aggies were likely to come after Ewers anyway. The reason they were able to flip the script defensively against LSU was because they were able to apply pressure and force Garrett Nussmeier to move. Texas' running game is average at best, making it even more likely A&M will blitz a lot. Nic Scourton, Shemar Stewart and Cashius Howell, especially, have been pushed hard this week to come through for their teammates. And there can't be any slow starts defensively.
Flip targets
You've heard plenty about Lamont Rogers possibly flipping to A&M -- and I expect that he will, if he hasn't already -- but the Aggies are pushing really hard for some guys not named Lamont Rogers or Michael Fasusi.
USC commit and 4-star WR Jerome Myles is coming to town, and momentum seems to be building for the Aggies to flip him. His quarterback is 2026 commit Helaman Casuga, and A&M never stopped recruiting him. I said that this recruitment may come down to records, and clearly A&M has had a better season than USC. The Trojans have made some moves on the recruiting front of late, but they've also lost some of their biggest commits to Colorado over the last few days. The Aggies could clearly use Myles next season, and they'll sell early playing time during this visit.
A&M is pretty intent on not having a repeat of this season, where two running backs go down and you're looking at one good back remaining, moving forward. Even though they have Tiger Riden under wraps, they're looking at adding another back to the 2025 class. His name is Jamarion Morrow, and he's currently committed to Missouri. Morrow will be in town tomorrow and, again, who has the best future moving forward? After 41-10 and the struggles Mizzou has had this year after being a top 5 team, A&M pretty clearly does.
Even though 5-star DE Javion Hilson is supposed to be heading to Missouri tomorrow, adding his quarterback -- Brady Hart -- to the 2025 class has to be a bonus for the Aggies. They're making a late run at him, so we'll see if Hart's commitment can really alter his thought process.
A Texas commit, Nick Townsend, is also going to be visiting tomorrow. The Aggies were in it pretty seriously for him before he committed to Texas, and his versatility -- either at tight end or defensive end -- makes him appealing.
On the Fasusi front, the Texas trip was reportedly "good", but "good" gets you nowhere right now. A&M has been considered the primary threat to flip him, because he's really close with Adam Cushing. But I really do think he's going to stick with Oklahoma.
Aggie commit in seriously good company
4-star linebacker Noah Mikhail has been named a finalist for the high school Butkus award, along with Ohio State commit Riley Pettijohn, Oregon commit Nasir Wyatt, Nebraska commit Christian Jones and Notre Dame commit Madden Faraimo. Mikhail hasn't gotten a lot of attention due to his early commitment, but he could be a factor in the rotation next year with Taurean York, Scooby Williams, Daymion Sanford, Tristan Jernigan and Jordan Lockhart. Suddenly, you don't have to ask if someone plays linebacker.
