If a landlord fails to return a security deposit or provide a written itemization of deductions within 30 days of the end of the lease does he/she lose all rights to withhold ANY of the security deposit?
Long story short, but we're going through something similar and everything I've read online seems to indicate that in Texas the landlord has 30 days to send back the $ or an itemized deductions. Failure to do so leads to them forfeiting the right to withhold ANYTHING. Does anyone know for certain that this is correct?
