I'm in Memphis, so I'm playing catch up on this. Bear with me.
Elko says Donovan Green (ACL), Aki Ogunbiyi (not sure), Enai White (ankle), Shemar Turner (not sure), Kam Dewberry (not sure) will be "very limited" this spring. Conner Weigman is still not 100%, but is not far away. They're going to limit him running-wise this spring.
Byrce Foster is out again due to track.
Weigman is QB1, if there was any doubt. "He'd like to be healthier. He'll be able to work efficiently as a pocket-passer. I'm not sure how much he'll be able to run around."
Elko unloaded on Addazio, to which I shall golf clap.
"There has got to be a way that we play the football game, and there is a mentality that you want to have as a program. A lot of that starts with the offensive line. The grit. The toughness. The mental edge ...That's something that we have to develop... The understanding that it's something that needs to improve has already taken place."
Here's a shot at Jimbo:
"Across the board as a program, we want to focus on developing our football IQ. We have to get smarter, more intelligent as a football program."
This is too:
"I'm not looking for a guy who runs a particular style of offense. I'm looking for a guy that knows how to use our personnel, how to attack a defense and how to move a football consistently from year to year."
He's in a hurry to improve.
"We can't waste days. We can't miss opportunities. We can't not maximize everything we're doing... We've got to go out and really, really drive it forward this spring. With it being the first spring, everything is challenging."
OC Collin Klein
Seems to be looking for versatility on the O-line. On Chase Bisontis: "We'll have a much, much better feel for that (whether he's at guard or tackle) at the end of the spring and after we've had a substantial time to put pads on and helmets on and see the fit."
On the quarterbacks: "It's a really good room. I've been very impressed with their study habits and how hard they're working to get up to speed. In our system, we put a lot on our QB. We can do a lot of things thru that position that are unique and special."
He says the offense isn't fully installed, but: "We're going to be explosive. I'm really excited for some of the talent we have at some of the spots and the ability to move them around to use their abilities to make big plays."
We're going to be multiple. We're going to be diverse. We're going to be a disciplined outlet."
