What was your first job that you were paid by a pay check?
Mine - Taco Bell mid 70's
Me and my friends worked at a Taco Bell in Houston. Everyone who worked at the location was a friend of mine. We worked the night shifts w/o management on site. Those were the days before internet and cell phones so communication was old style (in person). So often if you worked a night shift you would be the information contact center as friends would drop by and you would collect and provide information.
We worked hard and took care of business at a high volume location with a small staff. I learned some things there that helped me later.
You younger guys will probably cringe at my hourly rate - $1.45 an hour. Gas was 33 cents a gallon so it was OK.
I am with the crowd who believe that these jobs are stepping stones to advancing your professional goals - not something to support a family. Everyone who worked with me is successful. It was a good starting point but just that.
