It is hard to express the level of excitement that I am getting regarding our DL. I was not an Aggie during our years of domination and growing up in other parts of the country, I wasn't familiar with the Wrecking Crew. I got to watch the maturation and eventual domination of Miller and Moore, but now we have multiple playmakers.
But, it's pretty exciting to read about the development of our DL since Sumlin has arrived:
Two seniors will start at DT against ASU. One of which is considered one of, if not the, smartest guys on the team, and both are extremely hard workers and good leaders.
Two ridiculously quick DE that will likely be better than LSU's Mingo and Montgomery a few years ago (In their final collegiate season, the two ends combined for 39 solo tackles, 11.5 sacks, five passes defensed, and three forced fumbles: (http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-s...ngo-montgomery-share-bets-225347553--nfl.html)
Plus, we finally have depth. QC and JJ and Lockhart are all impressing the coaching staff at DE. We have a 5* stud DT who is probably in the 3-deep right now. Any time in the last 10-15 years, he probably would have had to start because of lack of bodies and talent. Mack's position on the depth chart presently is probably because we RS a 4 star DT last year! (No, I don't expect Mack to remain in that position all year long.)
I can't wait to watch this DL this year and next.
