The Republican Party seems to have almost completed the evolution from the GOP of Bush, Romney, McCain, Hurd, Kinzinger, etc to that of DeSantis, Cruz, Hawley, Rubio, etc.

Do you think this group holds on and keeps control for quite a while or do you think the party continues in its development to the party of Boebert, Greene, Gosar, Gomert, etc.

Trump kind of straddles the line between the two groups. Not sure which one to put him in.
The fact that he straddles this line and he is so popular makes me think that the DeSantis/Cruz group ultimately gets pulled down to the Boebert/Greene group.

Your thoughts?

Trump is a damn psycho. He doesn’t belong in either group. He’s a populist ideologue obsessed with the cult of Donald.

the Boeberts of the world are no different than Maxine Waters and Sheila Jackson Lee on the other side. Embarrassing idiots who can be relied upon to say something insane and make the rest of the party appear to be nuts, too.

The quality of American politicians has declined precipitously in the last few decades.

Each side of the aisle is heading for a split. Dems have the moderates and the socialists and the Repubs have the Neo Con RINOS and the populists. We could have 4 parties at some point because the rifts on both sides are getting stronger.

Nice graphics illustrating polarization over time. The Republican Party has been moving faster outward than the Democratic Party. I don't see how Boebert, Greene, etc. could be long term stalwarts espousing a genuine platform- more like a sugar high to create turnout.

You miss the fact that the Democrat leadership has been moving leftward at a much higher rate than the Republican leadership has been moving right. Congressional Republicans fall pretty neatly into pretty staid, boring old country clubbers and one-step-short-of-a-militia nutjobs.

Democrats have adopted a philosophy of advancing toward their nutjobs as much as possible.

That's arguable at best. Can you point to anything in the data I provided (voting records) to back that up?
