Does anyone think there could be a connection between excessive hunting and dementia?

One of the UVA doctors my dad talked to told him that's something they're looking into since the NFL concussion/dementia connection was established. I suppose the repeated excessive vibration of a gun ringing out right next to your skull could cause long term damage, especially in something like duck hunting, where there's somewhat rapid firing. Plus, there's a belief that hearing loss can lead to dementia. Has anyone experienced something like this with a lifelong hunter?
