Last Thanksgiving my wife hit a deer that did $12k worth of damage to her car. We are looking to sell it or trade it in soon. I went to CarMax to get a quote, and it was about $3k less than it would've been without the damage, according to Edmunds. The quote from CarMax also said they had counted off for the previous damage, but didn't say how much. So when we sell it, I plan to file a diminished value claim with State Farm.
I see a lot of things on the Internet about law offices that represent people in diminished value claim cases.
Has anyone ever hired a lawyer for a diminished value claim? If so can you recommend one?
And should I hire the lawyer first, or wait for State Farm to process the claim and see if I care to pursue it?
TIA
