Edmonton Eskimos wide receiver and former Texas A&M football player Derel Walker continued his incredible first season in the CFL with a standout performance against the BC Lions last Saturday afternoon, netting 121 receiving yards, a defensive tackle, and the game-winning touchdown. He has been named one of the CFL’s Shaw Top Performers for Week 14 of the 2015 season.
Walker opened the game with a 43-yard reception from quarterback Mike Rielly, followed by a 5-yard catch. He returned in the third quarter with a tackle, two receptions, and a 1-yard catch for the 2-point conversion to bring Edmonton back into the game against the faltering Lions.
The native of Hillsboro, Texas secured the game winner with a 21-yard catch for a touchdown in the final three minutes of the game. The product of Texas A&M is currently 9th overall in receiving yards on the season, despite playing only 7 games.
This is Walker’s second accolade of 2015; he was a Shaw CFL Top Performer for the month of August.
Two other players also received Shaw Top Performer nods; you can help Derel Walker earn the title of Shaw Fan’s Choice of the Week by receiving the most retweets on twitter for this tweet. The CFL is happy to provide photos on request.
