Watching the Rangers and I am amazed at how much turf filler gets thrown around even in a baseball game.
I often wondered if football players aspirate (inhale into trachea or lungs) or swallow this stuff routinely during a game.
This type of turf was not around when I was a kid so I have no idea.
Just googled and read it takes between 20,000 to 25,000 ground up tires for each field. Plus and minus environmental impacts (no irrigation or applied chemicals) but the tire particles can contain some nasty chemicals.
Any of you parents or coaches concerned about the tire filler?
Congrats to the Rangers btw from a 'stros fan.
