Every year it seems like they are less objective, more inconsistent, and are now showing they hold grudges. At this point I would rather Lunardi himself decide the whole thing.
My proposal would be for the coaches poll to decide seeding ranges up to the top 25 or so teams. There’s alignment there because they don’t want any under or overseeded teams. Misalignment would be deciding bubble teams in or out (they would want hot teams out of the field completely), so rankings past 25 or so would be the AP poll filling out the rest of the field for however many spots there are after auto bids.
Committee then decides matchups and regions, but all within seeding ranges from the polls. And no more politics around bubble teams because it’s out of their control.
