Outside linebacker Dee Ford's night was going pretty well in Friday's preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Ford, the Kansas City Chiefs' first-round pick last year, got a chance to start as Tamba Hali rested. Ford played well, with a couple pressures and a few tackles. Then Seahawks running back Christine Michael took him out with a chip block.
Ford, who didn't play much as a rookie, appears to have fractured his rib on Michael's devastating block, according to Arrowhead Pride. That's terrible news for a young developing player in preseason.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid confirmed the injury after the game.
"Dee Ford has what looks like a fractured rib but we'll see how things go here in the next day," Reid said, according to Arrowhead Pride. "But he took quite a shot there to the ribs."
On the flip side, perhaps that earns some points with the Seahawks' coaching staff for Michael, a former second-round pick who despite a massive amount of offseason hype last year has never done much for the Seahawks. It was pretty easy to take notice of that block.
