Best way to lose 20-30lbs

I just celebrated my 40th birthday and I guess I’m going through the whole mid life crisis stage. I’m moderately active but I still eat like a 14 year old. I have managed to stop drinking soda and fast food. What’s the best way to lose between 20-30lbs without putting too much strain on the old muscles and joints.
