Best route from Round Rock to College Station

Every 2 weeks I travel from San Antonio to Round Rock. Now I am required to go from RR to CS. Last
time I took 79 to Hearne. I liked the fact that Hwy 6 and University was my destination but Hwy 79 was a hard
drive with all the small towns. Nice drive but I would like to save some time. Any sugestions would be great.
