was listening to a podcast and the host brought the term up relating to admission standards to the Ivy League schools. Never heard it before that podcast. apparently ivy's have been successfully suppressing white enrollment, seems they encountered too many Asians. Now they are labeled as white adjacent and look to also be on the chopping block to get the newly defined optimal racial quota. Not sure if "Asians" is for all Asians including Indians or not.

why keep up the front and just come out and state their preferences?

I'm not sure how this type of racism is allowed based on the Civil Rights Act.

This and the fact that asian men are the most financially successful group in America blow holes in the whole white supremacy of america argument so this racism doesn't get much play. I'm glad it is getting some attention after decades

either the podcast is mixed up or you misheard what was said.

asians have never been given racial consideration, but they have consistently kicked ass on admissions tests, hs gpa, and advanced college prep classes.

they have sued harvard (unsuccessfully) for letting in less qualified applicants through holistic admissions

Even you should be able to identify the racial/gender discriminatory strategy employed by the idiot you voted for.

No, he heard it right. Ivys and some other higher profile schools consider eastern Asian as "white adjacent" and consider those demographics as less desirable for admissions. There have been a lot of "leaks" on this, I put quotes there because the school's admission boards aren't really hiding it. For now, they do not consider Western and South-Eastern Asians (Middle Eastern, Pakistan, Inda) into the calculations, but the latter two are soon to be on the chopping block as well.

The term they use is white-adjacent to obfuscate what they are doing and use race as a driver for not admitting minority groups. It's been used for a while now, I think the first I heard it was around 2016 when I was in Boston and having a few beers with a Boston University grad.

you guys are over thinking this. just check the "they box" and you are automatically accepted to the ivy league schools. or just check native american lesbian box again, auto ad-min.

What's weird is the Ivy League schools' admission changes seem to lower the number of Asians but not whites.

Maybe it’s not cool to say they’re directly discriminating against Asians?

That case is being heard before SCOTUS.

i know one of the things harvard argued was over representation.

although asians make up only about five percent of hs graduates, the latest (at the time) freshman class was nearly one quarter asian.

I think that's the color of our new tile in our laundry room.

Is it? It’s one of the things the country was founded upon.

Yeah. It was all racism! This country was founded in 1619 and based on slavery! Didn’t you read the talking points from Ibram X. Kendi?

And this is how it works:
If you’re a convicted felon, you should never lose your right to vote, because your past shouldn’t preclude you from participating in a Democratic society.

If you’re white and your ancestors have a 5% chance of having once owned slaves, you should pay the price in lessened opportunity to make up for institutional racism that has existed since 1619 and slavery that ended in 1865.

That’s consistent, right?

Why are you angry? No need to put words in my mouth.

Slavery was around since the British colonies and white men were definitely buying black people from before 1776 through 1865.

Slavery played a big role on this land for centuries. It is a big part of US history. It’s okay to admit that as fact.

Angry? Pointing out a logical inconsistency in your system of thought is anger?

You want to punish capable white kids because of “institutional racism” but not convicted felons for their own actions. Let them vote as soon as they’re out! And both positions are for the purpose of getting votes.

It’s P.J. O’Rourke’s dichotomy come to life:

“Liberals have invented whole college majors--psychology, sociology, women's studies--to prove that nothing is anybody's fault. No one is fond of taking responsibility for his actions, but consider how much you'd have to hate free will to come up with a political platform that advocates killing unborn babies but not convicted murderers. A callous pragmatist might favor abortion and capital punishment. A devout Christian would sanction neither. But it takes years of therapy to arrive at the liberal view.”

Consider a Supreme Court Nominee to be the most qualified judge in the land. When the POTUS proclaims he'll appoint a black woman (no others need apply) . . . he's essentially violated every Civil Rights Act on the books
