The sidelines were packed with former players, players family members and recruits. Greg Little walked in with Kendell Jones. (both looked massive). Little is here with his mom.
Coach Jeff Banks made sure to go and say hello to Zarrian Holcombe and family before the scrimmage began.
Jerrod Johnson was here. A side note to that- he trains Dillon Sterling Cole.
I did not see Speedy Noil out there warming up.
As soon as the scrimmage began media had to leave. They stretched , went through about five minutes of position drills and then the horn sounded for the scrimmage to begin.
After practice media interviews will include Coach Sumlin, Kyle Allen and Julien Obioha.
(my mistake on David Moore. He is at SMU.)
Coach Sumlin:
We made it out fairly healthy. Josh Walker practiced a little bit the past couple of days, but not today.
It's a different defense. It's m more a get up the field, one gap oriented front rather than two gap read and react.
Daeshon Hall made some strides. He is carrying his weight.
Alaka will be back in the fall...AJ Hillard, Josh WAlker. I though Richard Moore, for a guy who should be going to the prom next month, did pretty well this spring.
With Mike Mathews being out we really were able to work Stukey in there. Stukey has put himself in a position to be a backup center and compete for a starting guard spot.
Speedy Noil has some things he has to complete. We had a discussion a week ago Monday. He will be back this week and we have asked him to do some things, and while he is doing that he has been away from the program...No not health related... He is doing what we asked him to do. There is more to it than just football. Guys mature at different times. and sometimes you have to put things in place to make sure guys understand what is expected of them. Sometimes when you take football away from them, and get them away from the team a little bit, the point is made. I would look for him to be back sometime this week.
