Just wanted to let everyone know that there is an Aggie racing in the Tour de France this year. So when you are watching tv with friends or family flipping through the channels this July and someone says, why the hell is there a bike race on TV?, you can say because they want to capture the viewership of the Aggie network.
Chad Haga
Class of 2010 (or 11, I cant remember)
Graduated with a 3.95 in Mechanical Engineering which is different than most cyclists who's fall back plans are flipping burgers or working at a bike shop their whole life.
Older brother of Shane who runs https://www.homageleatherworks.com/ both inspired by their father to follow their passions in life before losing a 6 year battle with Lung Cancer(non smoker, non drinker) two years ago.
In the Tour, Chad will mostly be riding in a support role for the teams GC contender Tom Dumoulin. Should things go poorly for Tom at some point, Chad could be given the green light to give it his best shot in a break at some point or to go for it in a time trial which is one of his specialties after just getting beat out by a few seconds to take second last week in the USA National Time Trial Championship.
While Chad has completed two grand tours in a season the past 3 years (Giro & Vuelta) this will be his first attempt at doing the Giro then coming back on only a months rest for the Tour. Both the Giro and Tour are widely considered the most grueling sporting events in the world and I would be happy to argue with anyone who proposes something else.
