never took a swing at a first pitch.........and the first pitcher knew that and consistently delivered a fat first pitch every time. At the same time, walks helped this team win tonight. So..........
Remember a discussion years ago about a Ranger hitting coach that told players never to swing at the first pitch. Stats said they had a higher strike out percentage than teams that did. Stats said when pitchers faced teams that would swing at the first pitch, they threw more balls on the first pitch.
As a former catcher, it really bothered me to see Ags taking so many first pitches........they were the best pitches to hit percentage wise.......
