With Peterson's reinstatement this week I've heard the comments and indignation about the "horrific" beating he gave his son several times.
Honestly don't think I've ever read the whole story or seen all the pictures, so I'm not commenting on the Peterson case in particular, but how many of you got a spanking that left a mark when you were a kid?
I did - both at home with a belt and at school with a paddle - but I'm pretty sure I deserved it when I did. And certainly nothing that would be considered horrific. Just a whelp or two. I'm pretty sure my wife's grandmother left many a switch mark on all her kids and grand kids though.
Worst thing my dad would do was make us wait for our whippings until bedtime. I guess it made sure he never did anything out of anger, but it was worse waiting all day knowing it was coming than actually getting the whipping itself. If we did something really bad he'd get the skinny Sunday belt out though.
