A Tuesday evening campus threat at Texas A&M was determined to be false after the University Police Department obtained an emergency subpoena to track the person who posted the threat on Yik Yak, according to a UPD press release.

The Yik Yak post read "THIS IS NOT A JOKE! DON'T GO TO CAMPUS BETWEEN 7 AND 730 THIS WILL BE MY ONLY WARNING." Yik Yak is a social media outlet that allows users to anonymously share posts with other users in the area.

After UPD began receiving calls about the threat, the subpoena to request account and identity information from the Yik Yak post was requested and subsequently granted.

The police were then able to determine via Yik Yak the account information and identity of the account holder, as well as the phone number associated with the account, which they traced back to A&M mathematics freshman Christopher Louis Bolanos-Garza.

Bolanos-Garza was located at the John R. Blocker building on campus and was placed under arrest. He has been charged with making a terroristic threat, a third degree felony that is punishable by up to 10 years in state prison and a fine of up to $10,000. Bolanos-Garza is currently being held at the Brazos County Jail without bond.
