B. Pain of last season begins to fade. Argue politics and religion while waiting for spring ball.
Mar - Apr:
A. Focus on basketball for a few weeks. Enjoy Ags make decent run in NCAA tournament.
B. Afterwards, obsess over and overanalyze every report from spring practice. Find new players to rave about.
C. First threads predicting major success in the fall ("We're gonna win the West with this team, Ags. MARK IT DOWN!")
May-July:
A. Expectations continue to rise. Most predict 9-3, hope for 10-11 wins.
B. Various players get kicked off team or quit, including someone important we didn't expect. As a result, begin worrying about depth at some position.
C. Somebody starts innocuous thread that takes a crazy turn, goes to 8 pages, becomes the stuff of legend.
Aug:
A. Everybody is football-crazy, foaming at the mouth to start the season. 10 win predictions abound. Pumpers and Sandbaggers at each others' throats.
B. Garrett (DE) and Kirk (KR/PR) are preseason All American. Several others are All-SEC.
C. "If we beat Bama..." threads appear
Sept:
A. We start out hot. Win first 4 or 5 games, including a game against a supposedly good team that later gets exposed as mediocre.
B. Ags rise to 10 or so in polls.
C. Playoffs predictions begin.
Oct:
A. Conference play begins. Ags start losing.
B. Meltdowns resume and pitchforks comes out. Some predict we lose the rest of our games.
C. Begin waiting game for new head coach while fighting viciously amongst ourselves.
The rest is just lather, rinse, repeat.
After a dozen years off and on this board, the cycle is very predictable.
